Student Arrested In Nikiski For Making “Terroristic Threats” Against School

Alaska State Troopers have arrested a student at Nikiski Middle/High School for making threats against the school.

 

The Alaska Department of Public Safety Dispatch on the incident says Troopers received a report of the threats at NMHS shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 19. The threats indicated there could be a mass shooting targeting the school.

 

Troopers responded, and their investigation revealed a juvenile student made multiple comments that were perceived as threats regarding the school. The following day, the student was arrested without incident, and charges were referred to the Division of Juvenile Justice.

 

According to Alaska State Troopers Public Information Officer Tim Despain, repeated threats were made directly to multiple students at Nikiski Middle/High School. Despain says these students relayed the threats to school administrators, who contacted AST.

 

Despain said the juvenile student was arrested off school grounds on Wednesday and faces a charge of terroristic threatening.

 

An email went out on Tuesday to families from Nikiski Middle/High School Principal Michael Crain, stating school administrators “promptly took action” after being made aware of the threat by the Alaska State Troopers. Crain wrote that the school will continue working with law enforcement to “guarantee the security of all individuals” at the school.
