Study Finds Alaska Safest State With Regards To COVID-19

Some states are safer than others during the COVID-19 pandemic based on how well they have kept the virus under control and how much they are vaccinating. In order to find out the safest states during the COVID-19 pandemic, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across five key metrics.

 

Their data set includes the rates of COVID-19 transmission, positive testing, hospitalizations and death, as well as the share of the eligible population getting vaccinated.

 

Alaska ranked as the safest state in the nation using these metrics. Alaska has ranked top in vaccination rate per-capita, 7th in positive testing rate, 2nd in hospitalization rate, 10th in death rate, and 17th in transmission rate. Their data is based on data as of Wednesday afternoon.

 

The most unsafe state in the nation is Alabama. They rank 48th in vaccination rate, worst in highest death rate, and they are tied for second-worst in transmission rate.
