Central Peninsula soccer teams traveled to the Valley for Northern Lights Conference soccer contests; Kenai and Soldotna facing-off with Colony and Palmer and Nikiski battled Reddington and Houston high schools.
Soldotna Sweeps Palmer and Colony
The SoHi soccer teams recorded four victories in the Valley with varsity wins for both girls and boys against Palmer and Colony.
SoHi Girls 7 – Palmer 0
A four-goal hat trick by Abi Tuttle lead SoHi to a 7-0 victory over Palmer to open the weekend on Friday. Jaela Hubbard, Alaina Bramante and Reagan Schoessler added single scores for the Stars.
SoHi Boys 4 – Palmer 0
Four different Stars scored in the 4-0 shutout of the Palmer Moose. Timmy Smithwick, Andrew Hammond, Eli Sheridan and Ben Godfrey all scored for the Stars, with Dylan Kuntz assisting on three goals.
SoHi Girls 2 – Colony 1
The SoHi girls rallied from a 1-0 deficit with back-to-back goals by Abi Tuttle in the game’s second half. Tuttle accounts for five SoHi goals in the two-game NLC series.
SoHi Boys 5 – Colony 2
The Stars were pushed more by the Colony Knights and SoHi responded. The Star boys blew open a 2-1 game with three unanswered goals. Eric Mayoral opened the scoring and Andrew Hammond, Timmy Smithwick, a second Mayoral goal and a second goal for Hammond accounted for the Star goals.
Kardinal Soccer Goes 2-1-1 On NLC Valley Swing
The Kenai girls and boys teams each recorded conference wins over Palmer; however failed to notch a win against Colony. Both teams have six wins on the season.
Kenai Girls 0 – Colony 0
A Northern Lights Conference showdown resulted in a 0-0 tie in the varsity girls contest between Kenai and Colony. The Kenai girls stand at 6-1-1 on the season.
Kenai Boys 0 – Colony 1
The Kardinal boys failed to find the back of the net; but also, held Colony to a lone goal in a 1-0 Knights victory in Northern Lights Conference play.
Kenai 3 – Palmer 0
The Kenai girls rallied from a scoreless Friday to score three goals Saturday against Palmer and record a 3-0 shutout victory. Breanna Eubank scored a penalty kick goal, Lara Creighton and Hannah Drury added single goals. Alli Steinbeck recorded her second shutout of the weekend.
Kenai Boys 2 – Palmer 0
Damien Redder scored twice for the Kardinal boys in a 2-0 shutout of the Palmer Moose. Tristan Landry recorded the Kardinal shutout.
Nikiski Dominates Valley Schools For Four Road Victories
Nikiski Girls 6 – Redington 1
The Bulldog girls overpowered Joe Redington Jr/Sr High 6-1 on Friday. Deidra Lamping scored four goals for the Nikiski girls; Verity Feldman netted two goals.
Nikiski Boys 5 – Redington 0
The Bulldog defense held the Huskies scoreless while collecting a pair of goals by both Gabriel Smith and by Tyler Olsen. Silas Buss added a single goal.
Nikiski Girls 1 – Houston 0
Hannah Love scored the game-winner and only goal in a 1-0 shutout over the Hawks.
Nikiski Boys 7 – Houston 1
In an NLC contest, the Nikiski boys racked-up seven goals in a 7-1 victory over Houston. A three-goal hat trick by Sam Tauriainen, two goals for Nate Carstens, and single goals for Dylan Broussard and Hunter Holloway accounted for the Bulldog scoring.
