U.S. Senator Elect Dan Sullivan(R-Alaska) made a local appearance and spoke about what his recent committee appointments can do for Kenai Peninsula residents.
Sullivan: “One of the committees is Environment and Public Works so that’s great in terms of infrastructure, ports, roads, bridges, but the other thing that’s really important about that committee is oversight in regards to the EPA and other federal agencies that in my view have not been helping Alaskans, have been undermining our opportunities so you’re going to see a lot more oversight hearings.”
At a packed meet and greet at St. Elias in Soldotna, he shook hands with locals who came out to support him and enjoyed a pint while talking about moving the Alaska LNG Project forward from his new position in Washington DC.
Sullivan: “From my perch in Washington we’re going to be very focused on trying to make sure that the permitting element of that with the federal agencies will be expedited so I think that’s going to be something that’s could help our big LNG project which is so important to this community.”
Sullivan will be sworn in on January 6, 2015.
