Shane Sundberg, age 17 from the Birch Ridge Golf Association, advanced to the round of eight at the 2022 Alaska Match Play Championships at Moose Run Creek Golf Course in Anchorage.
Following a 2-1 victory over Nicholas Brawner in the round of 16, Sundberg dropped his head-to-head match against Todd Millard on the 18th hole, after being up two through 12 holes.
Sundberg advanced through three days of competition; two opening rounds of 18-hole qualifying and Saturday’s match play, into Sunday’s final rounds.
Earlier in the tournament, Sundberg holed-out his tee shot on the Par 4, 295-yard eighth hole recording a “1” on his scorecard; enroute to a first round 71.
