Support from across Alaska and the nation continues to pour out for the families and friends of Troopers Patrick “Scott” Johnson and Gabriel “Gabe” Rich.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski spoke about the incident on the Senate Floor.

Sen. Murkowski: “About this time eight years ago, the national capital region was mourning the loss of Michael Garbarino and Vicky Armel, the first Fairfax County police officers to die from gunfire in the line of duty. In April 2009, Pittsburg lost three of its finest and this year as we anticipate the arrival of National Police Week, Alaska carries that burden.”

Governor Sean Parnell also offered his condolences.

Parnell: “We do want to take this moment in time to just honor the lives of Sergeant Scott Johnson and Trooper Gabe Rich they made the ultimate sacrifice for us all to live safe and free and we, along with all Alaskans, send our thoughts and prayers on their behalf and will be there to honor them at their memorial service.”
