The lead teams in the 2017 Tustumena 200 Sled Dog Race arrived at the Freddie’s Roadhouse checkpoint early Sunday morning and are completing the mandatory four hour layover before the push to the finish.
Nicolos Petit reached the Freddie’s checkpoint at 5:43 a.m. followed by Mitch Seavey, Tim Osmar and Dean Osmar.
Following the required time at the final major checkpoint, teams will race for the Kasilof Start/Finish area. The lead teams completed the Kasilof to Freddie’s leg on Saturday in about four hours; Freddie’s to the Finish is 43 miles long.
An estimated finish to the 2017 Tustumena 200 is mid-afternoon Sunday, possible as early as 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
