Tanalian School Principal Nate Davis Named AASSP 2022 Region 7 Principal Of The Year

The Alaska Association of Secondary School Principals has named Tanalian School Principal Nate Davis as the Region 7 Principal of the Year for 2022. Davis has served the Lake and Peninsula School District for over 10 years. AASSP sponsors regional and statewide Principal of The Year recognition awards to honor the educational leaders who play an important role in student success. AASSP states that nominees can be nominated by anyone – students, staff, parents, district office staff or principal peers – with awards finalized by members in the region. Additionally, Regional Principals of the Year are eligible to be in the running for the statewide Alaska Principal of the Year.

 

In his leadership role at Tanalian School, Principal Davis prioritizes relationships with his students, staff, and community. He creates an inviting environment for all to learn and grow, according to report.

 

Lake and Peninsula School District Superintendent Kasie Luke said that Principal Davis brings a growth mindset to his school and community:

“He advocates for the professional growth of teachers and staff at Tanalian School, where he consistently strives to empower them in their unique roles to support our Lynx. Mr. Davis’ direct connectedness to the community and culture of Port Alsworth leads to the positive impact on students’ social/emotional and academic well-being.”

 

2021 Principal of the Year, Robin Jones, shared that her colleague and former teacher, “exhibits an energy and enthusiasm for providing students with every possible opportunity.”

 

Each AASSP 2022 Regional Principal of The Year will be awarded and recognized at the 56th Annual Alaska Principal’s Conference, scheduled to be held in Anchorage October 14-15, 2022.
