The K-Beach High Water Drainage Task Force submitted the engineering for drainage to the Kenai River Center and could have an update at their upcoming meeting.

Hydrogeologist Jim Munter has been an integral part of the task force and said last month’s meeting was very productive.

Munter: “Well we had some agency people here and that was nice, we had some folks who were working with us and we need to get more agency folks here, there’s a lot of people who have problems that are not getting addressed and our purpose is to try to get people in a room, understand the problems and try to figure out ways of going forward to try to solve some of these problems. And I think it’s a long slow process by most people’s patience but it’s really the only thing that works, and it does work, and it is working.”

David Schade of the Department of Natural Resources attended along with Borough Assembly Member Kelly Wolf, although some attendees were concerned there was no representation from borough administration.

At this week’s borough assembly meeting, Mayor Mike Navarre said there has been a lot of misinformation spread and in the coming months he plans to present the borough’s facts on the 2013 flooding and subsequent issues.

That task force meeting will begin at 6 pm on Monday, March 23 at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association building off of K-Beach road.
