Almost one year since they began, another collective bargaining session between the Kenai Peninsula School District, Education Association, and Education Support Association is scheduled for next Wednesday at the Kenai Peninsula College.
Pegge Erkeneff with the district…
Erkeneff: “All three negotiating teams, the district and the two associations, will meet to potentially exchange new proposals or clarify items that are under negotiation. There’s some tentative agreements that have been reached but there’s outstanding issues to come to an agreement upon and hopefully reach a tentative agreement and a new contract.”
She says the main sticking points are the same as they have been in negotiations before: healthcare, salary, and benefits.
The groups held a closed mediation session in September 2015 and then met again publicly in October.
Erkeneff says next Wednesday’s, meeting is an opportunity to come to an agreement on contracts before an arbitration date is set.
The meeting is open to the public and will be held at 5:30 pm next Wednesday, January 13, in the CTEC building.
