Ten New Positive COVID-19 Cases Among Kenai Peninsula Residents This Weekend

The Department of Health and Social Services announced 186 new cases of COVID-19 in Alaska over the weekend, combined across Saturday and Sunday’s reports. Five of the cases were residents of Soldotna, three were residents of Sterling, and there was one resident case out of both Seward and the North Kenai Peninsula Borough.

 

The majority of the state’s new cases among residents came from Anchorage where 103 residents were positive.

 

There are currently 2,594 active cases of COVID-19 among Alaska residents. 209 of those cases are residents of the Kenai Peninsula. Among those, 61 are in Soldotna, 47 in Seward, 39 in Kenai, and 34 in Homer.

 

The Kenai Peninsula’s rate of daily tests with positive results has been improving. On August 2, it was 2.07%. It has steadily dipped to 1.21% on the August 7 report and 0.89% on the August 8 report.
