Stormy, Daniels, and Beck Lakes are scheduled to receive the third application of herbicide for elodea next week.
Matt Steffy with Homer Soil and Water Conservation said the effects on the elodea are already present.
He said there has been some effects of the herbicide on native plants however those were calculated.
Fairbanks, Anchorage, Cordova, and most recently the Mat-Su Valley also have lakes affected by elodea, but Steffy said as far as he knows only Fairbanks is currently also working to eradicate it.
With next week’s third treatment, representatives from some of those areas will be down to see how the process works and ask C Pro specialists technical questions.
