Three principal candidates were chosen and over 50 members of the public showed up to watch the interviews for Redoubt Elementary Principal on May 14.
Superintendent Sean Dusek said the three candidates were already working in a variety of levels at the district.
Dusek: “And that’s what we’re finding is that people that are turning out to be the best fit for us actually work for us right now, which is a good thing for us to have because that means we’re developing quality leaders within our own system.”
He interviewed Mountain View’s Assistant Principal Bill Withrow, Kenai Central High School’s Assistant Principal Briana Randle, and Professional Development Coordinator for the district Michelle Thomason.
Dusek said he was glad to see so many community members come to the interviews to be a part of the process.
Dusek: “It was great, feedback from that group of people will be coming in to us and we’re hoping to be making a decision early next week. Like I said we are very late in the school year and we may be filling some more positions because it’s the domino factor.”
The Redoubt Elementary principal position opened when current Principal John Pothast took the Director of Secondary Education position inside the district.
