Tomorrow is the last day to donate to Soldotna High School’s annual Turkey Drive which provides Thanksgiving dinners for families in need and homeless students.
Teacher Meggean Bos said pretty much any food donations are welcome and will be boxed up for the holiday.
Bos: “Last year we helped 34 families between Soldotna High School and the former Skyview High School and I believe we helped about 7 students in transition, so we made boxes of food for those students as well.”
Any excess food is delivered to the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank.
Bos: “If anyone wants to donate they can drop it off to the Soldotna High School office during school hours, so approximately 8am to 2pm and Mrs. Lana Severson is the activities director at Soldotna High School and she is the one facilitating this program.”
As of today, 155 students in transition have been identified in the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District and 33 of those are considered homeless or are not with their family.
