Alaska’s legislative website received a makeover just in time for Alaskans to follow some high-profile topics when representatives convene in January.

We asked Speaker of the House Mike Chenault what he thinks the top priorities of the new session will be.

Spkr. Chenault: “I think that probably the three biggest issues that we’ll take up will be the bugdet, will be the biggest considering what’s happening with the price of a barrel of oil, and that being 90% of the budget for the state that makes a big difference. I’m sure education will come up and probably another big issue will be the writing of the regulations for the marijuana initiative that was passed, I’m sure there will be lots of conversation about it, now what direction that actually takes remains to be seen.”

That session will convene on January 20, 2015 in Juneau.
