Top Seeds Win Peninsula Conference Soccer Championships

The #1 seeds into the Peninsula Conference Soccer Championships, the Soldotna girls and the Kenai boys, claim the 2018 Peninsula Conference team titles with victories in championship games on Saturday at Soldotna High School.

The Peninsula Conference qualifies two girls and two boys teams to the Division II state soccer championships.  SoHi and Kenai girls and the Kenai and Homer boys will represent the conference in the first ASAA Division II Soccer Championship to be held May 24-26 at Service and Eagle River High School.

 

Girls Championship Game

SoHi Girls 2 – Kenai 0

The SoHi girls shut out Kenai in the championship game at Soldotna High School on Saturday.  The SoHi girls claim the first girls Peninsula Conference championship.  Meijan Leaf and Haley Buckbee scored for the Stars; Maddie Kindred recorded the save in goal for the Stars.

Both teams advance to the ASAA Division II Girls State Soccer Championships.

Boys Championship Game

Kenai 3 – Homer 0

The Kenai boys held Homer scoreless  in the championship game at Soldotna High School on Saturday.

Zack Tuttle scored a pair of goals and Leif Lofquist added a single goal for Kenai. The Kardinal boys claim the first boys Peninsula Conference championship.

Both teams advance to the ASAA Division II Girls State Soccer Championships.

 

Girls 3rd Place Game 

Homer 3 – Nikiski 1

 

Boys 3rd Place Game

SoHi 5 – Seward 1

SoHi and Seward played to a scoreless first half; then the Stars offense posted five goals for the 5-1 victory.  SoHi goals were scored by Eli Sheridan, Josh Heiber (2), Luke Trammell (2).
