Tour of Tsalteshi Records 84 Finishers On Sunday

With a choice of a 20-kilometer freestyle or classic event or a 40-kilometer event, eighty-four racers, both female and male, completed the 5th Annual Tour of Tsalteshi on the Tsalteshi Trails in Soldotna on Sunday.

 

Women’s 20K Classic

Mary Krusen of Anchorage, a 2002 KCHS graduate, 2021 Tour of Tsalteshi 40K event winner and 2021 Tour of Anchorage 50K winner, set a new course record of 1:16:23 (breaking her 2020 record in the Tour of Tsalteshi Women’s 20K Classic of 1:29:58).

Krusen posted a time of 1:16:23 for first place in the Women’s 20K.  Emily Lints finished second at 1:25:31; Tamara Brabson, third at 1:33:08.

Men’s 20K Classic

1. Eric Auten of Valdez  1:05:49

2.  Trevor Davis of Soldotna  1:15:36

3.  Wyatt Dement of Kasilof  1:49:20

 

Men’s 20K Freestyle

Andrew Mitchell, age 48, broke the one-hour barrier in the 20K Freeestyle with a first-place time of 59:15.  Kyle Lints finished second at 1:01:38; Martin Schuster, from Fritz Creek, placed third at 1:04:54.

Women’s 20K Freestyle

1. Anna Engel of Anchorage,  1:05:52

2.  Kelli Boonstra of Kenai   1:08:47

3.  Anna Williams  1:09:49

 

Men’s 40K Open

Ian McCarthy posted a time of 2:04:29 in the 40K Open.  Chuck Dimarzio of Seward finished second in 2:11:35; Robert McNown of Anchorage finished third in 2:11:43.

Women’s 40K Open

1. Melissa Smith of Soldotna  2:36:15

2.  Amy Brodersen of Cooper Landing  3:01:36

3.  Gail Norton of Fairbanks  3:46:59
