Track Champions Crowned At Borough Meet

The 2015 Kenai Peninsula Borough Track and Field Championships, featuring competition for both high school and middle school track athletes, were contested on Saturday at Soldotna High School.

 

The Soldotna Star girls and the Kenai Kardinal boys teams captured the team titles; the SoHi girls narrowly outpointing Kenai 187-180, and the Kardinal boys running-away with the team title with 201 points.

 

Top performances for the Kenai Peninsula Borough Championships included:

Girls Results

Kenai’s Allie Ostrander raced to individual victories in the 1600M, 800M, and 3200M and added a gold medal with the Karidnal 4X400M Relay.  A four, gold medal performance day for Allie to close-out her borough track meet.

SoHi’s Daisy Nelson placed first in the 200M, 400M, and Triple Jump; and added a second in the 100M for the top sprint performance of the meet.

SoHi’s Annie Quinn captured both of the throws, winning the girls Shot Put and Discus events.  Annie’s discus distance was the best recorded by a 4A thrower this season at 113′ 5″.

KCHS senior Kiana Harding won both the Long Jump and High Jump competitions.

Boys Results

Kenai’s Theisen brothers continued their dominance in the middle distance and distance events combining for four firsts and two second place finishes, and teamed-up for a victory in the 4X400M Relay.  Jonah Theisen raced to victories in the 400M and 3200M races; Jordan Theisen won the 800M and 1600M runs.

SoHi’s Dalton Best dominated the throws with victories in the Shot Put and Discus.  The throw of 132′ 7″ in the discus is 5th in the state.

Kenai’s Josh Jackman continued as the top hurdler winning the both the 110M and 300M Hurdles.  Josh also won the Long Jump and finished second in the Triple Jump.

The Kenai Middle School girls and boys track teams each raced to team titles at the Kenai Peninsula Borough Middle School Championships.

Top girls performances included: 

Brittany Taylor, Skyview, won the 100M and 400M dash events (state best 63.33).

Kenai’s Jaycie Calvert races to victories in the 800M and 1600M events.

Kenai’s Hayley Maw won the 200M and recorded the state’s fastest time in the 100M at 12.96.

Kenai’s Brook Satathite won the 100M Hurdles and Triple Jump.

Top boys performances included: 

Skyview David Michael won the 400M, 800M and 1600M events.

Kenai’s Tyronne McEnerny won both throws with victories in the Discus and Shot Put.
