UPDATE TO YESTERDAY’S STORY
Soldotna Police, Alaska State Troopers and Central Emergency Services responded to Mile 93 of the Sterling Highway on Wednesday for a fatal motor vehicle collision that caused traffic to grind to a halt yesterday afternoon.
Soldotna Police report that a 2001 Nissan Maxima was heading eastbound on the Sterling Highway and crossed into the opposing lane of travel, where it was struck by a 2017 Dodge ambulance belonging to Central Emergency Services.
A passenger in the Nissan was killed in the collision. He was identified as an 11-year-old male.
The driver of the Nissan was taken to the Central Peninsula Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. One of the emergency personnel from the ambulance was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
Next of kin have been notified ant the collision is still under investigation. No one has been identified in the collision.
