The 8th Annual Tri-The-Kenai, featuring racing in both a triathlon and duathlon format, was contested on Sunday at the Skyview Middle School pool and on the Tsalteshi Trails. For the first time in the events history, all of the competition was contained at the one venue. The duathlon, normally on a separate day, was included on the Tri The Kenai Sunday schedule.
Tri The Kenai: Women’s and Men’s Triathlon Event 750-yard swim, 10-mile bike and four-mile run.
Anchorage’s Amber Stull finished in 1 hour, 35 minutes, 15 seconds for the women’s title; Soldotna’s Angie Brennan finished third at 1:45:30.
The men’s championship goes to Anchorage’s Jason Lamoreaux in 1:15:02; Kenai’s Mike Crawford took third in 1:23:54.
Tri The Kenai: Youth Triathlon Event 100-yard swim, four-kilometer bike and three-kilometer run.
Kenai’s Teresa Fallon won the girls youth event at 45:22 and Soldotna’s Emmaclare Dammeyer was third at 46:33.
The boys youth event was won by Anchorage’s Murphy Kimball in 32:14; Soldotna’s Jack Laker was second in 32:27 and Kenai’s Gregory Fallon was third in 33:18.
Tri The Kenai: Duathlon Event two-mile run, 10-mile bike and four-mile run.
The duathlon women’s winner was Morgan Aldridge, completing the run-bike-run in 1:51:39.
The top male duathlon competitor was Brian Beeson in 1:27:21.
