HEA officials initially reported they were aware of the outage before 4:00 p.m. Thursday and began dispatching crews to bring each substation back online. At that time, they indicated the outage was affecting members from Anchor Point to Soldotna, including K-Beach, and posted to social media that “Crews are already flying the line and will be working to restore power to any circuits that can be back fed.”
Shortly after 6:00 p.m. officials stated, “Crews are making progress restoring power to members in Anchor Point and a few other small areas. There are 5,500 members who remain without power on all of K-Beach and from the Sterling Hwy at the Soldotna Bridge to the Kasilof substation. We are unable to back feed all of the circuits due to a damaged transmission switch. The crews are working as quickly and as safely as they can to restore power.”
Around 7:00 p.m. Homer Electric put out a notice that power had been restored to another 4,500 members from the K-Beach intersection at the Sterling Highway to just past VIP Subdivision, but that 1,000 members from the Soldotna bridge to Kasilof, as well as the inlet side of K-Beach remain without power.
Power was fully restored to all members by 8:00 p.m. Thursday night.
