Alaska State Troopers received multiple REDDI reports about a red Mazda traveling southbound on the Sterling Highway near Milepost 110 on Saturday July 8th at 12:25 p.m.
HELO 3 was in the area and located the vehicle near Mile 135 Sterling Highway near the Ninilchik river scenic view area.
HELO 3 witnessed the Mazda cross the northbound lane, almost cause a head-on collision, and go into the ditch.
HELO 3 landed nearby and contacted the vehicle. Investigation determined the driver, Sara Fisher, age 69 from Homer was under the influence of controlled substances.
Fisher was arrested and remanded to the Homer Jail for DUI and Reckless Driving where she was released on her own recognizance to a sober driver.
