Alaska State Troopers pronounced an Wildwood Pre-Trial Facility inmate dead after responding to the report of an unconscious man in his cell on Sunday.
Investigation revealed that 45-year-old Paul Heppner of North Pole had been found unresponsive in his cell.
Staff and Nikiski EMS personnel attempted resuscitation but got no response.
Heppner was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been notified.
No foul play is suspected. Investigation into what caused his death continues.
