As temperatures continue to swing between high thirties and the teens, roadways on the Kenai Peninsula have the potential to ice over quickly.
Megan Peters with the Alaska State Troopers says side roads and less traveled fairways are usually the slickest but highways can often be slippery also.
Peters: “The slower you drive the better but of course you can still slide going at a slow speed. So if you have to go out for any reason, be very cautious, plan on extra time for any drive that you’re making and take it slow.”
In the wintertime and especially on longer drives, Alaska State Troopers recommend that vehicle owners always have winter coats, hats, gloves, boots, and bottled water in case of an emergency.
