Troopers Will Increase Patrol Over St. Patrick’s Day Weekend

The Alaska State Troopers will be increasing patrols over the weekend in order to prevent drunk driving incidences.

 

Megan Peters with the Troopers said they recognize that St. Patrick’s Day includes drinking as a part of the celebration.

Peters: “We certainly want people to go out and enjoy their holiday celebrations however the thing that we don’t want to see is them making the poor choice of them getting behind the wheel of the car while they are impaired. We will be out on the roadways and we will be focusing our efforts on locating people who are driving dangerously and driving impaired.” 

 

Peters added that the public can also help if they suspect that someone is driving under the influence.

Peters: “One of the things that people can do is to report every dangerous driver immediately. You can call 911 or you can call a local police department and let us know what you are seeing out there. If someone is swerving all over the road and they’re scaring you or you have a concern about their safety and other peoples safety, give us a call.”
