It’s official…President-elect Donald Trump has selected ExxonMobil Executive Rex Tillerson to be Secretary of State.
ABC’s Chief Global Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz says though Tillerson is an outside pick, some insiders have been advocating for him…
Raddatz: “Tillerson comes highly recommended by former Defense Secretary, former CIA Director Robert Gates, who called Tillerson a man of integrity, in fact it was Gates who recommended Tillerson for the job. Condezella Rice also has been in favor of this nomination. So he will be such an interesting choice for this because he doesn’t have government experience but he certainly has vast business experience.”
Tillerson has had a troubled relationship with Alaska’s leadership, calling the state “it’s own worst enemy” when discussing the many failed gasline projects in Alaska’s history. ExxonMobil withdrew as one of the partners in the AK LNG Project after facing pressure from Governor Bill Walker and his Project executives.
