Tsalteshi Trails Maintenance Working to Preserve Snow on Trails

Author: KSRM News Desk |

With the warmer, wetter conditions recently, the Tsalteshi Trails Board is requesting users stay off the trails to try and preserve the snow that is left.

Board Member Jenny Neyman…

Neyman: “Through the grooming process the snow gets compressed and that dense layer of snow is better insulated against warm weather so it can potentially withstand the higher temperatures and rain that we’ve been having. It might be pushing it to hope that it works through the weekend if this keeps up. In the meantime though people can really help us out by staying off of the trails until things cool down again.”

She says Friday’s Tsalteshi Trails Turkey Trot 5k & 10k Run is not on the trails and is not weather dependent so will happen rain or shine.

Neyman: “It’s just along that unity trail path along K-Beach so it’s great for families, kids, older folks, walkers, and runners, just a fun, get out of the house after Thanksgiving, work off some turkey dinner, kind of a fun one.”

In-person registration begins at 11:00 am Friday at the Soldotna Regional Sports Center.

Neyman suggests participants bring some sort of traction for footwear in case the course is icy.
