Tuisaula & Jackman Beat The Field For State Track & Field Championships

Soldotna High School’s Wendall Tuisaula and Kenai Central’s Josh Jackman opened the 2017 ASAA State Track & Field Championship with individual state championships in the first round of the field events held on Friday at Palmer High School.

 

Boys Discus

Wendall Tuisaula, SoHi junior, recorded a state championship in the boys discus with a winning distance of 156′; a personal best for the season.  Tuisaula trailed Region V champion Jake Fosee after the three preliminary throws.

Boys Long Jump

Josh Jackman, Kardinal senior, won his third-straight long jump state title, out-jumping the field in the boys long jump on Friday.  Jackman also won the boys long jump in 2015 and 2016.

Jackman lead after the preliminary jumps; then retook the lead in the final jumps for the state championship in the boys long jump.  Jackman recorded a distance of 21′ 10 1/2″ for the championship, outdistancing Region III 4A champion Brandon Nicholson from Colony.
