American Legion baseball returned to divisional play for the Post 20 Twins at Coral Seymour Memorial Park on Monday with the Twins dropping an extra-inning pairing to Anchorage West in the first game of a home doubleheader. The first game of each doubleheader counts as the conference game with game two serving as a non-conference and in some cases a junior varsity game.
West 3 – Post 20 Twins 2
A lead-off base on balls issued to West turned in to the game-winning run in the 11th inning for the West Post 1 Eagles, as the Eagles held-off the Twins 3-2 in inter-divisional play. West lead 2-0 after three innings and the Twins battled to tie the game with a Logan Smith two RBI double in the fourth inning. Defense (double plays) and pitching held both teams in check until West manufactured the go-ahead run with a walk, and RBI single in the 11th inning.
The Twins won game two 7-1. Post 20 stands at 6-3 in the American Division and 12-7 overall with the Alaska Legion State Tournament looming in late July (26th through 30th).
