Twins Lose Lead And Drop ABL Game To Palmer

After a four-run, second inning staked the Alaska 20 Twins to a 4-0 lead over the Palmer Pioneers, the Pioneers rallied with five, unanswered runs including two runs in the seventh inning for ta 5-4 victory over the Twins.

 

The Alaska 20 Twins drop to 3-4 and 16 points in the American Division of the Alliance Baseball league; Palmer improves to 3-3 and 15 points in ABL play.

The Twins scored four runs in the second inning on two hits two walks and three Palmer errors for a 4-0 lead over the Pioneers.  Palmer chipped-away at the lead with two runs in the third inning, a singe run in the sixth inning and a pair of seventh inning runs.

Trailing 4-3 in the top of the seventh, Palmer took advantage of a pair of errors, two walks and a timely RBI single to take the lead at 5-4.  The Twins Tanner Ussing extended the bottom of the seventh with a two-out double; however was left stranded on the final out.

 

On the mound, Twins starter Mose Hayes lasted 6 2/3 innings allowing five runs on seven hits; Palmer’s starter Landon Guggenmos posted 6 2/3 innings allowing four runs on five hits.  Both pitchers came one out shy of complete games with Hayes recording 107 pitches and Guggenmos tossing 106 pitches.

ESPN 1140 AM continues the summer baseball broadcast season with coverage of the Alaska 20 Twins league contest against East on Sunday, July 12th.  The league game will be broadcast on 1140AM and streamed live at www.radiokenai.com.  Tuesday’s game is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. with the pre-game show beginning at 12:15 p.m.

Coverage of the Twins will include league road and home games and state tournament games in July.
