The Alaska 20 Twins scored three runs in the seventh inning to draw Sunday’s tournament game against Chugiak to a 3-3 tie. The Mustangs answered with a walk-off single and the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh for the 4-3 victory; the lose for the Twins eliminated Alaska 20 from the Alliance of Alaska Baseball state tournament.
The Twins finish pool play in the Alyeska Pool with an 0-3 record. The top two teams in the Alyeska Pool advance to the semi-final and championship rounds to play the top two teams from the Denali Pool. South Anchorage stands at 2-0 in the Alyeska Pool and have locked-in a playoff position. Eagle River and Chugiak play on Monday for the final spot from the Alyeska Pool.
Twins 3 – Chugiak 4
The Twins offense mounted a three-run attack in the seventh inning; however, the lack of offense early in the game cost the Twins as Chugiak downed the Twins 4-3.
In their final at-bat’s in the seventh and trailing 3-0, the Twins opened with back-to-back walks for Daltyn Deborski and Karl Wikstrom. Jacob Belger’s infield single plated Deborski. Mose Hayes drove in Wikstrom with a sacrifice fly and with two outs Tanner Ussing scored Belger for the third run of the inning.
Chugiak scored the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI, walk-off single by Connor Lanehart for the 4-3 Mustang victory.
