Twins Rally Past Chugiak: Need Sunday Win Over Bartlett To Advance At State

Author: Coach Dan Gensel |

The Kenai Post 20 Twins scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning  surpassing Chugiak Post 33 in the final inning for a 6-4 victory in pool play at the Alaska Legion State Baseball Tournament at Mulcahy Stadium.

Trailing 4-2 in the top of the seventh, Jacob Belger, Andrew Pieh and Simon Grenier each had RBI scoring Pieh, Gabe Smith, Williams and Gibson.

On the mound, Atticus Gibson pitched a complete game striking out four.  Gibson tied the tournament record with a three-pitch seventh inning, getting a flyout and two groundouts in the span of about 30 seconds.

A must win for the Twins having dropped their first pool play game to South 3-2.  The Twins must defeat Bartlett on Sunday to advance to the state tournament bracket round; Bartlett has recorded a pair of victories over higher seeded teams Chugiak and South.

The Twins face Bartlett in the 2 p.m. game at Mulcahy Park on Sunday.
