Twins Set For League Doubleheader With State Rankings On The Line

Author: Coach Dan Gensel |

With a condensed, month-long competitive season consisting of only 10 league games, the Alaska 20 Twins playoff standings are on the line on Tuesday, July 14th with a pair of Alliance Baseball League games, both league contests, scheduled for Bartlett High School field.

The Twins battle Juneau in game one of the Tuesday doubleheader at 1:30 p.m.; then face Bartlett in the Twins final league game of the regular season, scheduled for 4:00 p.m.  Juneau opened a 13-game road swing in Anchorage on Monday with a pair of non-league losses to the South/Open team (probably saving pitching for the league games to come).  Juneau is the three-time state champions in Alaska Legion Baseball and will play their entire league season starting with the Twins on Tuesday and ending Sunday, July 19th.

Bartlett enters Tuesday’s game with a 2-5 ABL record and two remaining league games this week.

The Alaska 20 Twins stand at 4-4 in the ABL American Division with two league games remaining and a total of 20 points.  The top two teams in the division and the top two teams in the National Division automatically qualify to the ABL state tournament.  The top four remaining teams, based on league records, also qualify to the state tournament to make an eight-team field for a pool-play tournament.  Teams not qualifying will play in the Matson Invitational post-season event.

Live Baseball On ESPN 1140AM

ESPN 1140 AM continues the summer baseball broadcast season with coverage of the Alaska 20 Twins.  The league games will be broadcast on 1140AM and streamed live at radiokenai.com.  Tuesday’s game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. with the pre-game show beginning at 1:15 p.m.

Coverage of the Twins will include league road and home games and state tournament games in July.
