League records and accumulated points will determine the eight qualifiers to the Alliance of Alaska Baseball state tournament; on Tuesday, the Alaska 20 Twins split a league doubleheader in Anchorage and earned five points toward their goal of a state tournament berth.
The Twins stand at 5-5 and 25 points in the American Division of the ABL, which should hold-up for a berth to the state tournament. Currently the Twins are in third in the American Division and are in-line for an at-large berth to state, which begins July 24th at Mulcahy Park in Anchorage.
Twins 3 – Juneau 2
Daltyn Deborski drove in the game-winning run in the top of the seventh for the Twins with an RBI single scoring Tanner Ussing, who opened the inning with a lead-off single.
The Twins lead 1-0 in the first inning on a Tanner Ussing RBI. Trailing 2-1 in the sixth inning, the Twin tied the game on a Mose Hayes RBI single scoring Atticus Gibson.
On the mound, Twins starter Nick Wehrstein recorded six innings, allowing two runs for the win. Harrison Metz earned the save throwing the seventh inning.
The win earned the Twins four points in the ABL standings.
Twins 4 – Bartlett 8
In the Twins final league game of the regular season, Alaska 20 allowed seven, first inning runs and never recovered; as Bartlett recorded an 8-4 ABL victory.
The Twins scored one run in the first and three runs in the second before the offense stalled. Twins runs were scored by Harrison Metz, Daltyn Deborski, Karl Wickstrom and Jacob Belger.
