The Alaska 20 Twins recorded its first victory of the summer baseball non-league schedule, just in time for the start of the Alliance Baseball League regular season which begins for the Twins on Tuesday, June 23 with a home pairing against Service.
Alaska 20 Twins 5 – Palmer Pioneers 4
On Saturday in Anchorage, the Twins built a 5-1 lead and held-off Palmer 5-4 in the first game of the doubleheader.
Moses Hayes drove in the game’s first run plating Davey Belger on an RBI triple; Hayes scored on a Sam Berry RBI fielder’s choice. Leading 2-0 in the seventh inning, the Twins scored three runs with the first five batters reaching safely, including a two-RBI single for Hayes. In the inning, the Twins recorded three singles, a walk and reached on an error for three runs. Palmer’s seventh inning rally produced three runs; however, fell short in the 5-4 Twins win. Mose Hayes pitched four innings and allowed only two hits and one run as the Twins starter.
Alaska 20 Twins 1 – West 12
Game two of the doubleheader belong to West Anchorage 12-1. The Twins scored a single run in the seventh inning with Sam Berry driving in Charles Tappen.
Alliance Baseball league play begins on Tuesday with the Twins hosting Service at the Kenai Little League field.
Game time is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

ESPN 1140 AM continues the summer baseball broadcast season with coverage of the Alaska 20 Twins league contest against Service Tuesday, June 23rd and with Wednesday’s league game against Wasilla on June 24th. Games will be broadcast on 1140AM and streamed live at www.radiokenai.com. Game times are set for 12:30.
Coverage of the Twins will include league road and home games and state tournament games in July.
