Twins Split With Service In Legion Baseball

The Kenai Post 20 Twins returned to Alaska Legion baseball play on Tuesday with conference and non-conference games against Service Post 28 in Anchorage.

 

Kenai  5 – Service 6

A two-run rally in the seventh inning drew the Twins close; however, Service held-off Post 20 for a 6-5 victory in the conference contest.  The Twins opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning. Post 20 added a single run in the fourth and a pair of runs in the seventh inning.  Service lead 2-1 after one inning and scored two runs in the third and two in the fifth.  Hunter Williams threw five innings for the Twins allowing six runs on eight hits.  Atticus Gibson and Gabe Smith lead the offense with Gibson recording three hits in four at-bats.

 

Kenai 10 – Service 6

In the non-conference game, the Post 20 Twins scored 10 runs in the final three innings for a 10-6 victory.  Kenai recorded 12 hits for the contest, scoring six runs in the fifth, two runs in the sixth and two runs in the seventh. The Twins trailed 6-0 into the sixth inning before a six-run top of the sixth for Post 20.  Charles Chamberlain earned the win on the mound in relief throwing 1.2  scoreless innings to close the game.  Andrew Pieh went 1 for 1 with two RBI and Gabe Smith went 2 for 3 with one RBI.  Nathanael Mowery and Owen Whicker recorded two hits apiece.

 

The Post 20 Twins stand at 6-5 in the American Division of Alaska Legion baseball.  Kenai plays Eagle River on Wednesday, July 6th at Lee Jordan Field in Chugiak.
