Two men were arrested Thursday evening near Homer after Alaska State Troopers witnessed them actively using intravenous drugs inside a parked vehicle.
At 7:19 pm Thursday, August 13, Anchor Point troopers were on a routine patrol near Mile 6 of East End Road when they noticed a suspicious 2000 Ford Escort in a mailbox turnout.
Officers approached the vehicle and observed the driver and passenger “actively using a hypodermic needle, had drugs in plain view and were using other drug paraphernalia” according to the report.
The driver was identified as 39-year-old Michael Alvey and his passenger was identified as 40-year-old Clifford Albrecht, both from Homer.
A search warrant was conducted on the vehicle and Troopers located heroin, methamphetamine, and other possible narcotics.
Both men were charged with two counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the 4th degree for possession of meth and heroin.
Albrecht was also found to be in violation of his felony probation.
Both men were arrested and transported to Homer jail where they were held pending arraignment of their charges.
