The Kenai City Council has two executive sessions scheduled for this evening’s, August 20) meeting and will vote to reconsider regulating e-cigarettes.

Kenai City Manager Rick Koch said the executive sessions are a matter of city finances and detailed the process of the possible reconsideration.

Koch: “There will be a motion for reconsideration, and I’m not sure if it’s on the table and it’s already out there because Terry(Bookey) said it was his intent to do it at the next meeting, I think he probably has to make a motion to reconsider, and then there’s a vote and if the vote is an affirmative, then they are back in the same place that they would have been before they conducted the final vote at the last meeting.”

The first executive session has to do with discussing the purchase of a certain lot of land by the city while the second executive session has to do with the City of Kenai’s retention of five properties for public use.

There is also an ordinance up for public hearing which would amend city code to require the city to provide residents of Kenai with free services at the city-owned boat launch and parking facility.
