Two men were arrested in Homer Wednesday after a disagreement over property led to a struggle and gunshot according to the Homer Police Department.

Just before 6:00 am, Homer Officer Ed Stading was patrolling East End Road near a school when he heard and saw a disturbance in front of a residence.

Upon contacting a male involved, the man stated he resided at the home and a man had entered his residence with two guns while another man was outside with a gun.

A dispute preceded the victim and one of the suspects wrestling in front of the victim’s home where a shot was fired which struck the ground.

Upon HPD Officer Stading’s arrival, the two suspects fled and other officers were called out in an attempt to locate them.

The victim was transported to South Peninsula Hospital for a head injury.

The Homer Police Department’s investigation found 37-year-old Joshua Lathrop and 52-year-old Kirk Daman to be the suspects and both were taken into custody at their separate residences without incident.

Both men told police “they were angry with the victim due to disagreements involving property”.

Charges filed with the Homer Court are pending for both men.

The incident spurred reports of armed police officers in East Homer this morning.
