A 2-hour school start delay is in effect for Kenai Peninsula Borough School District Schools in the central Kenai Peninsula for Jan. 7.
KPBSD made the announcement Tuesday morning, noting icy road conditions and changing weather.
School start is delayed for the following schools:
Central Peninsula Schools:
- Aurora Borealis Charter School
- Connections
- Kaleidoscope Charter School
- K-Beach Elementary School
- Kenai Alternative School
- Kenai Central High School
- Kenai Middle School
- Marathon School
- Mountain View Elementary School
- Nikiski Middle/Senior High School
- Nikiski North Star Elementary School
- Redoubt Elementary School
- River City Academy
- Skyview Middle School
- Soldotna Elementary School
- Soldotna High School
- Soldotna Montessori Charter School
- Sterling Elementary School
- Tustumena Elementary School
The district asks parents and guardians to keep students home if they do not think it is safe, based on neighborhood conditions, for their child to travel to school when school is open and simply call the school to let them know if a student will be absent. The absence will be excused.
