The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services announced 20 new resident cases of COVID-19 on Friday. Two cases came from the Kenai Peninsula Borough. The state’s cumulative case count is now 836. There were also ten new nonresident cases.

 

The Department of Health and Social Services also updated the death of Alaskans attributed to COVID-19 to 14, up two from Thursday. The Department said both were residents of Alaska living in long-term care facilities out-of-state. Both individuals were originally from Juneau, and their deaths occurred in May but were only recently reported to Alaska.

 

Alaska’s active case count is now 303, an increase of 12 from Thursday’s active count. As the counts continue to rise, Friday’s count marks another new single-day high for active cases.

 

The state reports that 12 Alaskans are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, or are suspected of having it. That marks two fewer than Thursday’s count.

 

A total of 101,792 tests have been conducted, including 4,769 in the Kenai Peninsula.

 

These numbers reflect data from 12:00 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. on June 25.
