The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported 11 new positive COVID-19 cases in their Tuesday update, including two in the Kenai Peninsula Borough. One case is in Anchor Point, and one in a community with fewer than a thousand people in the Kenai Peninsula Borough. One new fatality was reported, making for a total of 11 deaths related to COVID-19 in Alaska.
There were also six new positive cases from Anchorage, one from Nome, one from Kotzebue, and one from Haines.
The number of active cases of COVID-19 cases in the Kenai Peninsula is 54. The number of active cases in the state of Alaska is now 173. The last time the active case count was as high was on April 5 when the tally was at 174. There have been a total of 573 cumulative positive COVID-19 cases in Alaska, with 389 designated as recovered.
A total of 66,890 tests have been administered in Alaska thus far, which includes 3,969 in the Kenai Peninsula.
These cases are reported using the state’s timetable of reporting counts: 12:00 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. on June 8.
