On August 25, three complaints against public officials were accepted by the Alaska Public Offices Commission having to do with the Kenai River Classic.
Since then, only two of the three officials involved in those three complaints have amended their APOC reports.
The complaints against Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources Ed Fogels and Alaska Department of Fish and Game Commissioner Cora Campbell state that they did not declare their participation in the Classic on public disclosure forms.
Fogels and Campbell have now amended their APOC reports to include their participation in the event.
Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell also received a complaint for not declaring his daughter’s participation in the classic in 2013, and she that accepted gifts and a waived entry fee, which is typically around $4,000 – $5,000.
Treadwell has said that his daughter did not participate.
The three complaints accepted by APOC were out of over 200 having to do with the Kenai River Classic, however for APOC to accept a complaint for consideration, it must meet technical standards and if the allegations prove true would be a violation.
The complaint against Campbell alleges that she did not report attending the 2011 classic or accepting gifts.
The complaint against Fogels alleges he did not report attending the 2013 classic where he received gifts.
The Kenai River Classic is put on by the Kenai River Sportfishing Association and is invitation only.
KRSA estimated the value of the gifts given to each of the officials in 2011 at $5 and in 2013 their financial disclosure estimated the value of gifts at $6 each.
