Soldotna’s Fireweed and Lupine intersections on Knight Drive will be closed the morning of May 6.
Maintenance Department Manager Scott Sundberg said the fixes were postponed last summer since there was already a lot of detours from the roundabouts.
Sundberg: “We gotta cut the approaches out, the radiuses are collapsing, people cut the corner and the asphalt is caving in so we want to reinforce the corners, improve the radius, and that will help the drainage as well go to the “beehives”, the storm drains that are there.”
He said detour signs will be posted on the affected streets and the city has notified police, Central Emergency Services, and school district buses.
Those intersections will be closed from 8:00 am Wednesday, May 6, to 4:00 pm Friday, May 8.
