U.S. Senator Elect Dan Sullivan will be sworn into office at the Capitol building in Washington D.C. today.

In December Sullivan visited Soldotna for a meet and greet at St. Elias where he spoke with KSRM about what he can do for the Kenai Peninsula.

Sullivan: “From my perch in Washington we’re going to be very focused on trying to make sure that the permitting element of that with the federal agencies will be expedited so I think that’s going to be something that’s could help our big LNG project which is so important to this community.”

After the swearing in on the Senate floor, Sullivan will participate in the ceremonial swearing-in with Vice President Joe Biden in the Old Senate Chamber.

Governor Bill Walker traveled to Washington D.C. for the swearing in as well as to meet with Interior Secretary Sally Jewell and others before he treks back to Alaska late Wednesday.
