The University of Alaska Board of Regents have narrowed down finalists to one man for the UA system’s next president.
University officials announced Thursday that former UA executive Jim Johnsen will meet with university stakeholders over the next month before regents make a final decision after reviewing feedback.
Currently Johnsen is an Alaska Communications senior vice president but would replace UA president Pat Gamble.
Gamble postponed his retirement date from June 1 to the end of August so Board of Regents could properly assess candidates for his position.
A search advisory committee previously narrowed candidate recommendations to four, including one who withdrew his name.
Johnson was selected by the board after interviewing the remaining three candidates.
