Municipal Election: Absentee Ballots Tabulated, Ballot Results Certified Tonight

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Election Review Board released updated election information from the weekend.

 

According to Johni Blankenship, Borough Clerk, there were 4,513 absentee, question and special needs ballots tabulated. They also updated the results for the 6 by mail precincts. Only ballots that were postmarked on or before election day and received in Tuesday’s mail will be added to the mix.

 

All precincts have been counted and by this evening, the results will be certified at the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly meeting.

Proposition 1A: Western Emergency Service Area (This would expand the Anchor Point Fire and EMS service area boundaries to include the Ninilchik area and beyond.)

  • Yes: 317 votes – 67.45%
  • No: 153 votes – 32.55%

 

Proposition 1B: Existing Area (This would take the newly-expanded area to form the Western Emergency Service area to cover that area.)

  • Yes: 472 votes – 66.95%
  • No: 233 votes – 33.05%

 

Preposition 2: Repeal of Ordinance 2020-24 (A yes vote would repeal Ordinance 2020-24, which is the Vote-By-Mail Hybrid system established by the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly.)

  • Yes: 8453 votes – 59.81%
  • No: 5680 votes – 40.19%
