The North Star Conference for high school hockey matched the teams from the North against the Kenai Kardinals and SoHi Stars for three days of doubleheader hockey at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.
Colony, Wasilla and Palmer swept the Stars and Kards in all six contests. THe Homer Mariners also lost three in Homer to the Valley programs.
Saturday Game Results
SoHi 1 – Colony 4
The Stars offense struggled on Saturday against the Colony Knights, managing only 20 shots and one goal on the night. Colony recorded four goals on 40 shots, with SoHi goalie Billy Yoder turning-away 36 shots. SoHi’s lone goal came with :48 seconds remaining off the stick of Cameron Knowlton.
Kenai 2 – Palmer 5
Down 4-0 in the 3rd period, the Kardinal offense found some life with a pair of goals, one for Bailey Maxson and one for Levi Mese. Palmer added an empty-net goal for the final 5-2 Moose victory.
Friday Game Results
Kenai 0 – Wasilla 12
The Kenai Kardinals were man-handled by Wasilla on Friday with the Warriors scoring 12 goals and allowing the Kardinals only 13 shots for the contest.
SoHi 2 – Palmer 4
The Stars jumped-out to an early 2-0 lead over Palmer; however, allowed two goals in the second period and a pair of goals in the third. SoHi opened with a Jace Urban goal in the first and a Cameron Knowton goal to open the second period. Palmer took the lead mid-way through the third period and added an empty-net goal to close the game.
Thursday Game Results
The Kenai Kardinals fell 5-1 to the Colony Knight in the first game of Thursday’s twin-bill. Kenai’s lone goal scored in the second period by Levi Mese.
The Soldotna Stars were shut-out by the Wasilla Warriors 3-0; even though, the Stars outshot Wasilla 33 to 25. Wasilla goalie Zach Curry turned-away 33 SoHi shots on the night.
Upcoming Hockey Schedule
Kenai and SoHi will travel to the Big Lake Invitational scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, December 10-12 at the Big Lake Arena.
