The Kenai Kardinals and Soldotna Stars hockey teams failed to record a North Star Conference victory on Saturday as the teams from the North finalized their sweep of the Kardinals and Stars.
Colony 7 -SoHi 2
The Stars fell behind just :27 seconds into the pairing against Colony on Saturday as the Knights scored the first of four, first period goals before most fans found a seat; the Knights downing SoHi 7-2.
The Stars recorded two goals for the contest, both netted by Galen Brantley III. Jose’ and Alex Montague assisted on SoHi’s first period goal; Wyatt Medcoff and Skolnik assisted on Brantley’s second period goal. SoHi shared time in goal with Corbin Wirz recording eight saves on 12 shots in the first period; McKenzie Powell recorded 11 saves on 14 shots in two periods of work.
Wasilla 9 – Kenai 1
The Kardinals battled through evenly with the Warriors into the second period, trailing by a single goal, 2-1 after one period of hockey; then the flood gates opened as Wasilla records a 9-1 NSC victory.
Kenai’s lone goal came off the stick of Levi Mese. Josh Tree, in goal for the Kardinals, recorded 36 saves for the game.
