8:50 pm update:
The crash near Cooper Landing Thursday afternoon killed one fifteen-year-old girl who was riding in a white SUV with her father and siblings.
The four other passengers received non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers reported the camper trailer the vehicle was towing caught on the soft gravel shoulder of the road, causing the vehicle to veer and hit a tree.
7:00 pm update:
Several people were injured in the fatal one-vehicle accident near Cooper Landing Thursday afternoon.
A family of five was reportedly traveling in a white SUV with trailer and at least one person was confirmed dead at the scene of the accident.
According to 511.alaska.gov, the highway at Mile 45 has reopened completely.
Drivers should still exercise caution as traffic may still be backed up.

Traffic on the Sterling Highway is limited to one-lane as the Alaska State Troopers investigate a fatal one vehicle rollover near Mile 45 outside of Cooper Landing.
Megan Peters said the report of the accident came in to Troopers at 2:30 pm.
Peters: “Unfortunately somebody in that vehicle was confirmed to be deceased on scene and we are going to be doing an investigation into the wreck, we’re going to be doing total stations which is essentially mapping of the scene. One lane of travel is going to be open during this time so traffic will be able to operate as that go through, it will be slow going, we ask that people just be patient, please watch their speeds. We’re going to be going through it as quickly as we can but we also need to make sure we do a good job so it is going to take some time.”
